Helen M. Carico, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed peacefully into the arms of the lord on Friday, June 7th. She was born on February 14, 1939, in Richmond, VA to the late Dr. Hugh B Magill and Gladys Krauth. She died at Archbold Hospital attended by her husband James and family.
She was a very social, steadfast friend, a renowned traveler, and most of all a strong Christian in word and action. She was a founding member of Trinity Anglican Church and was serving on the vestry and search committee when struck by her final illness in 2016.
She served the county as member and chairman of the Board of Equalization. With a few close friends, she founded An Open Door Adoption Agency and was first board chairman. She was also a founder and first chairman of Lawson Neel Med Bank where she was a volunteer for many years.
She is survived by her husband James Carico, sons David (Tina) of Atlanta, Richard (Allison) of Atlanta, and John (Heather Bowers) of Thomasville; grandchildren Mason, Alex, Will, Barrett, and Christopher; sister Patty (Rev. David) Chamberlain of Fernandina Beach, Fl, brother-in-law Sam (Polly) Carico of Coral Gables, Fl, and sister-in-law Diana Huggins of Apex, NC and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Jeanne and her husband Bill White, brothers-in-law Paul Lawson and Ike Huggins, and daughter-in-law Julie Carico.
A service to celebrate the life of Helen Carico will be held on Wednesday, June 19th at 2 pm at Trinity Anglican Church with Reverend Morgan Clark officiating.
