Funeral services for Dr. Helen Anderson Everett, 80, of Thomasville will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. Rev. Tim Filston will officiate and interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be James R. Clanton, DVM, Lawrence A. Harmon, Herman L. Brasher, George E. Bloodworth, III, and Alan S. Waller, MD. Dr. Everett passed away on April 21, 2017. Born August 25, 1936 in Clinton, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Helen Paris Anderson, William Ray Anderson, Jr. and step-mother Esther Britt Anderson. On March 30, 1958 in Clinton, South Carolina, she married George Samuel Everett, who preceded in her in death. Dr. Everett attended the University of South Carolina, receiving her BA in Elementary Education (1958). Later she received her Master’s Degree (1971) and her PH.D (1992) from Florida State University, both in Early Childhood Education. From 1961 until 1972, she was a first grade teacher at Thomasville City Schools. After, she furthered her education career at the Thomas County Schools as Community Liaison (1972-1975) and teacher (1975-1980). In 1980, she became coordinator of the Southwest Georgia Psychoeducational Services (1980-1990). She later became a Professor at Florida State University (1988-1990) and the Chair of Department of Education at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama (1992-2000). She concluded her teaching career at Thomas University as Professor in Early Childhood Education. Dr. Everett was a member of Chi Omega (University of South Carolina), Thomasville Junior Service League, Thomasville Entertainment Foundation (Board Member), National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Thomasville Chapter, National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, John Lee of Nansemond Chapter and numerous local and state Early Childhood Education Councils. She enjoyed spending time at her beach vacation home at Bay Point (Panama City Beach), spending time with her (7) grandchildren, traveling and being active in the First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include sons George William Everett and wife Roban of Alpharetta, Georgia, John Anderson Everett, Sr. and wife Lori of Thomasville and Thomas Bailey Everett and wife Jill of Thomasville; grandchildren Avery Carson Everett and Sydney Anderson Everett both of Alpharetta, Georgia, Harrison Brasher Stewart, John Anderson Everett, Jr., Owen Samuel Everett, Bailey Neal Everett, and George Parks Everett all of Thomasville. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Thomasville, 225 E.
