Helen Janice Hurst

Helen Janice Hurst, born on August 16, 1940, in Rochester, NY, passed away on September 2, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of Colonel Jack and Alice Johnston Farley. Helen, a dedicated homemaker, nurtured a warm and loving home for her family in Cairo, GA.

She is survived by her children: Tammy D. Orr of Cairo, Dawn M. Beckowitz of Cairo, Paula A. Chastain of Cairo, Fern I. Simpson of Thomasville, and Nathan Hurst of Philadelphia, PA. Helen also leaves behind 11 cherished grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Her siblings, James Farley, Erica Farley, and Theodore Farley, will remember her fondly.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, her sister June Andrews, and her husband, Zack S. Hurst.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 2 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Helen's life and share memories of love and laughter.
