Graveside services for Helen Elizabeth Kautsch Long, 102, will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 11am at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Long passed away peacefully on April 26, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Canton, Ga after living a full and inspiring life. Born on July 15, 1916 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Karl Richard Kautsch and Winifred Martin Kautsch of Ithaca, NY. A graduate of Plant High School in Tampa, Florida, she attended Cornell University and the University of Tampa. She married the love of her life, Warren Butler Long on April 29, 1939 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Tampa. Mrs. Long served as an encourager, intercessor, mentor, and personal cheerleader to countless friends and family. She always had a positive word, and gracious smile. Asked several years ago what she was most proud of, she said “being born into a loving family and the privilege of being my adored Warren’s wife. I’m grateful for God’s special love in giving us two precious daughters, five beloved grandchildren, and ten wonderful great-grandchildren.” Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Warren Long and grandson, James Roland “Jake” Clanton III. Survivors include daughters Martie Long Hunter (Powell) of Canton, Georgia and Mary Warren Long Scoggins (Frank) of Thomasville, Georgia. She was a beloved Ma’Má to grandchildren Stephen Hunter (Keisha) of Canton, Ga., Powell Hunter III (Luanne), Cindi Clanton Ackerman (Bob), and Carri Clanton Smith all of Tallahassee, FL. Mrs. Long had ten great-grandchildren who were blessed to know her including Helen Rebecca Hunter, Powell Hunter IV, Caleb Hunter, Kennedy Ackerman, Mills Ackerman, Helen Elizabeth Smith, Lucy Smith, Richard Hidgon Smith, Jr., Joshua Hunter, and Daniel Hunter. She adored her special cousin Ruth Miller Babiy of Glen Mills, PA and countless other friends and family. Memorials may be made to Faithful Is He, Inc.
