Graveside services for Henderson Darby Ray of Thomasville are at 11:00AM on Friday, April 2, 2004 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Lee Waller will officiate. Mr. Ray died March 30, 2004 at his residence. Born June 7, 1935 in Thomasville he was the son of James Arthur Ray and Rossie Mae Darby Ray. He was married to Joan Peterman Ray for 47 years. Mr. Ray grew up in Meigs and graduated from Meigs High School. After a tour of duty in the Air Force, he went to work for South Georgia Natural Gas. He retired after 33 years of service as the local Vice President of Operation from Southern National Gas. Survivors include his wife, Joan Peterman Ray; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Anne Ray of Courtland, VA, son, Ronald Ray of Atlanta, GA, grandsons, Kevin, Christopher and Cameron of Courtland, VA, sister, Irene Anderson of Thomasville, brother and sister-in-law, James A. Jr., and Dorothy Ray of Fort Worth, TX, mother-in-law, Gaynelle Peterman, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Olliff Flynt of Tifton, Marie and Bob Shiver of Warner Robins and Martha and Grady Bullington of Tallahassee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9PM on Thursday.. Memorials may be made to the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Societies, 180 Big Star Dr. Thomasville, GA 31757.
