Graveside services for Henry Wallace Tucker, 90, of Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2010 in Laurel Hill Cemetery with Military Honors on Carolina Street. Rev. Dr. Tom Jacbos will officiate. Mr. Tucker passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital Tuesday, January 5. He was born April 18, 1919, to Henry Leroy and Hattie Mae Tucker who preceded him in death. Wallace was married to Irmalene Parker Clements Tucker who preceded him in death in November of 2008 after 40 years of marriage. Wallace was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thomasville where he regularly attended until his health failed. Wallace graduated from Thomasville High School where he played guard on the Thomasville High Bulldog football team. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Navy in the Pacific theater. He owned and operated Tucker's Frame and Auto Repair for many years until his retirement. Wallace was a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars; a former Elk where he served as District Director for several years. He was also active in the Boy Scouts where he served as Scoutmaster of Troop 306 in Thomasville during the 1950s. Wallace is survived by sons, Wallace Gary Betty Tucker of Thomasville and Anthony Leroy Pat Tucker of Jesup, Ga.; grandchildren, Wallace Gary Wendy Tucker, Jr. of Huntsville, Al., Rhonda Leigh Todd McMahon of Ponte Vedra, Fl., LuAnn Kevin Poppell, Amy O J Edwards of Jesup, Ga.; great grandchildren, Andrew Bascom and Mary Wynn Tucker, Morgan Alexandria and Mazie Grace McMahon, Matthew, Maggie and Mallorie Poppell, Alexis and Austin Edwards; and great-great granddaughter, Kayden Poppell. He is also survived by the children of his second wife, Patricia Dorsey Shelly and Jimmy Beverley Clements of Thomasville who lovingly referred to him as "Papa". Other survivors include grandchildren of his wife, Angela Timothy Wiggins, Marcia Edmond Millere, Allen Shelly, Donna Brown, Laura Keefe Newton; Great Grand-children, Keith Shelly, Saralyn Shelly, Abbie Shelley, Rosalie Millere, Ella Millere, Whitney Brown, Grant Newton and Laura Newton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Caroline Sutfin of Walnut Creek, California and her husband, Jess. Visitation with the family will be at Allen and Allen Funeral Home, Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers a gift in his honor be made to The First Baptist Church, Thomasville Food Bank or the Thomasville Med Bank.
