Herman Eugene Sanders, Sr., 78, of Ochlocknee, passed away at his home on Monday, March 3rd, 2025. He was born in Bainbridge, Georgia to the late Herman Roscoe Sanders and Edna Lambert Sanders.
Herman was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with friends and family. He especially loved fishing with his grandchildren. He loved a good fish fry and enjoyed working with his mules and buggy riding trails.
Herman is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Melanie S. Sanders and their children Herman E. Sanders, Jr. and Tammie D. Sanders of Beaufort, South Carolina, Cleburn R. Bannister, III (Katherine) and "Jaybe" James Alfred Bowers, IV (Jessi) of Thomaville, Georgia; grandchildren Chelsea Hightower, Cameron Hightower, Beau Bannister, Sadie Bannister, Jay Bowers, Gage Bowers; and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie S. Jordan, Vickie Parker (Steve Fewell), Mary Ann Jones (Mike), and Armendia Turner (Troy) and brother Travis Sanders.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, sister Latronia Sanders, brothers Danny, Marty, Russell, and David Sanders, and granddaughters Anne Grace Bannister and Heather Simmons.
A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Cairo on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, at 3:00 PM with Pastor Max Crapps officiating. Active Pallbearers will include Ashley Bryan, Chris Trawick, Clay Norton, Jeremy Jones, Lee Brady, and Earl Prince. Honorary Pallbearer will be Donald Knight.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Lives Without Limits at P.O. Box 1652 Thomasville, GA 31799.
