Services for Hollis Lamar Carter, 95 of Thomasville will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at East Side Baptist Church. Reverend Tim Robson will officiate and interment will follow at Little Ochlocknee Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Carter passed away July 16 in Moultrie. Born July 18, 1921 in Ochlocknee, he was the son of the late George Lamar Carter and Josephine Chastain Carter. He was married to Phronie Mae Ott Carter, who survives. He was retired from Southwestern State Hospital and was a longtime member of East Side Baptist Church. He loved farming and raising animals but most of all he loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. Other survivors include his children, Larry Carter and wife Cindy, Martha Ann Miller and husband Glenn, Russell Lamar Carter, Robin Roberson and husband Scott, all of Thomasville and Cory Carter and wife Constance of Douglas; grandchildren, Shelby Lawrence, Jeremy Carter, Jennifer Vinson, Sydney Roberson, Miranda Roberson, Hollie Carter, Lauren Carter, Cole Carter, Shelby Carter, Ryan Carter and Jayla Brown; great-grandchildren, Victoria Lawrence, Peyton Lawrence, Nosara Carter, Noah Carter, Talmadge Vinson, Vance Vinson and Hollis Vinson; sisters, Ola Leadbetter of Jonesboro and Jane Royals of Hampton and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Easie Baldwin, Mary Chastain, Marie Tinsley and Grace Williams and brother, Wallace Carter. The family will receive friends before the service at the church.
