Memorial services for Horace Philip Taylor, 83 of Thomasville will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, August 8, 2014 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Mack Luke will officiate. Mr. Taylor passed away August 5 at his residence. Born March 26, 1931 in Thomasville, he was the son of the late Ellis Taylor and Alma Tryan Taylor. He was married to Sharon Perkins Taylor who survives. They married 58 years ago in Michigan and came to Thomasville on their honeymoon and never left. They spent 58 wonderful years on their honeymoon. Mr. Taylor was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served in the Korean War. Many years ago he owned the Esso Gas station, and then he went into construction. Later, he was a maintenance supervisor for Millpond Plantation, and after retirement from Millpond, he drove a school bus for the Thomas County School System. He was a member of the Thomasville Masonic Lodge #369, was a Shriner and he loved his family, country music, especially Hank Williams, Sr. Other survivors include his children, Kevin Taylor and wife Elise and Lynne Sloan Jones all of Thomasville; grandchildren, Phillip Taylor and wife Maria, Ryan Sloan, Erin Sloan Freeman and husband Troy and Taylor Jones; great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Freeman; brother, Gary Taylor (Carol) of Thomasville; several nieces and nephews and his companion dog, Bear. He was preceded in death by brothers, Vincent Taylor and Bobby Taylor. Donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 114 A Mimosa Dr Thomasville Ga 31792.
