Services for Hugh Cordell York, Sr. of Thomasville are at 10:00AM on Friday, June 18, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church where he was member. The Rev. V. L. Daughtry, the Rev. Bob Dixon and the Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor will officiate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. York died June 16 at his residence. Born August 18, 1933 in Thomasville he was the son of the late Hugh Pennington York and Audrey York Carleo. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother Viola York Burnett. He was married in 1956 in Cairo, GA to Mable Long York who survives. Mr. York retired from Industrial Boiler Co. after 40 years as a service manager. He was a member of the Sue McTier Sunday School Class and the Golden K. Kiwanis. Other survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Hugh Francis of Alabaster, AL, sons and daughters-in-law Hugh Cordell, Jr. and Connie York, of Cumming, GA, Thomas H. and Julie York of Cairo, GA, grandchildren, Holly Beth Francis, Allan Benjamin Francis, Lara Brooke Francis, Morgan Elizabeth York, Kindall Michelle York, Hugh Cordell York, III, Stephanie Claire York and sister, Ann Y. Goggins of Thomasville. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Youth Fellowship, P.O. Box 975, Thomasville, GA. 31799.
