Hugh D. Mcmickle

Services for Hugh Dorsey McMickle, 91, of Thomasville are 11:00 am Thursday, August 12, 2010 at First Baptist Church Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Milton Gardner and Rev. Dan Spencer will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. McMickle died August 9, 2010. Born June 23, 1919 in Buena Vista, he was the son of the late Charlie L McMickle and Eunice McElmurray McMickle. In 1964 he married Jewell Peeples Wilson McMickle, who survives. He was preceded in death by his first wife Vera Martha McMickle. Mr. McMickle was a veteran of the US Navy where he served on the USS Hornet in WWII and received the WWII Victory medal and the Asiatic ? Pacific Area medal. Hugh remained active in First Baptist Church until his health no longer permitted. He enjoyed helping Dr. James Storey in the Rose City Walk and Run for many years. He will be missed and remembered with love by his wife and family. Survivors include daughters, Nancy Joy and husband Johnny Reichert and Pamela Gay and husband Bud Greco; step children, William Scott Wilson and wife Heavenly and Dana Wilson; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by stepson, Thomas Mabrey Wilson. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Wednesday at Allen & Allen Funeral Home. Guests may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com
