Services for H. Bivins Griffin, 83, of Thomasville are at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2006, at Dawson St. United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ramon Hernandez and the Rev. Carl Howard will officiate. Interment is at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the Arthritis Club. Mr. Griffin was born March 4, 1923, in Thomas county, Ga., to the late John Lochran Griffin and Julia Bancroft Heald. On May 1, 1949, he married Virginia Hudson, who survives. Mr. Griffin was a postal clerk, veteran of the United States Air Force, and a member of the Thomasville Masonic Lodge 369, Arthritis Club, and Dawson St. Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. Mr. Griffin died October 19, 2006 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Burt B. and Lanette Griffin of Cashires, NC. daughter, Brenda G. Simmons of Alpharetta, Ga., and grandchildren John W. & Robyn Simmons Jr. of Anchorage, Ak, Melanie L. Simmons, and Scott Hartley of Columbus, OH. Memorials may be made to the Dawson St. United Methodist Church, 1132 N. Dawson St., Thomasville, Ga. 31792, or to the American Cancer Society, Inc., P.O. Box 1201 Albany, Ga. 31702.
