Mrs. Robert J. Black
Mrs. Irene Dauper Black, 88, wife of Dr. Robert J. Black, died at her home in Thomasville, GA, on June 9, 2004 after an extended illness. She was born in Springfield, Illinois. She served as a nurse during World War II in Europe, retiring with a rank of Captain. She married Dr. Black 56 years ago and her beloved husband, Bob, also died within an hour of her death. They lived in New Orleans while he was specializing in pediatrics, in Rome, GA while he practiced medicine there and they moved to Thomasville when he retired. She is survived by a cousin and his wife, John V. and Doris Snoles of Groveland, FL and their daughter, Susan Snoles of Orlando, FL. Mrs. Black will be cremated and placed in the Columbarium at Arlington Cemetery. A private memorial service will be held later in Charlotte, N.C.
