Funeral services for Iris Payne Boyle, 99, are 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor, Rev. Bob Dixon and Rev. Waymon Cleveland officiating, and interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Boyle passed away November 25, at Glenn-mor Nursing Home. She was born in Crosland, Ga on May 23, 1907, the eldest daughter of the late John Clyde & Leola Calhoun Payne. She attended Norman Institute and taught school for a brief time. She married Louie W. Moreland, who precedes her in death, and moved to Thomasville where they raised their family. Over the years she was associated with Jerger Jewelers and Thomas Drug Store as many remember. In 1957 she married Thaddeus W. Boyle Tom. They were active together in church and civic affairs and enjoyed traveling throughout the years until his death in 1998. Mrs. Boyle was devoted to her mother and father, Mr. & Mrs. J.C. Payne, and to her entire family. She was a great letter writer and corresponded with quite a number of friends and family all her years, and was a blessing to many. She was a woman of great strength and pride in her family and Christian heritage. She loved her church, First United Methodist Church, and was an active member throughout the years in Sunday School and the Women?s Circle. Mrs. Boyle was a wonderful cook and hostess for family and friends as well. She is survived by daughter Joanne Moreland Johnson of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl and son, John Allen Moreland and wife Millicent, of Atlanta, Ga, Two sisters, Clara Payne Dyches, of Lake Park, Ga and Julia Payne Beal of Goldsboro, N.C., one niece, Julia Beal VanNutt and husband Robert of N.Y. and one nephew Edward Beal and wife Cindy of N.C., grandchildren, Neal Andrew Ross deceased, Laura Ellison Ward and husband Roger; John Allen Moreland, Jr. and wife Wendy, all of Atlanta, Ga., great grandchildren Jordan Benjamin Ward, Lillie Ellison Ward, Davis Payne Moreland, John Winfield Moreland and Henry Hawkins Moreland, step-children, Kitty Boyle Schwab and husband Bill of Washington, D.C. and Jerry Boyle and wife Joan of Cocoa Cocoa Beach, Fl., step-grandchildren, Kim Schwab and Michael Schwab, Benjamin Boyle and Joshua Boyle, and step- great grandson, Tyler Schwab. The family would like to express gratitude to friends and all those who were a help and comfort to Mrs. Boyle over the years, and to the nurses and staff of Glenn-mor Nursing Home and Hospice of South West Ga.
