Memorial services for Jack Davis Shepard, 73, of Ochlocknee, are at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Dawson Street Baptist Church. The Rev. Lee Waller will officiate. Mr. Shepard passed away March 25 at his residence. Honorary Pallbearers are the Adult II Men's Sunday School Class and co-workers at Georgia Power of Pelham. Born, March 19, 1937, in Buckhead, he was the son of the late George Davis and Onie Florence DeLoach Shepard. On June 14, 1959, he married the love of his life, Louise Rorex Shepard, who survives. Jack was a veteran of the United States Army. In 1965 he moved to Pelham,
where he was a member of the First Baptist Church. He retired from Georgia Power of Pelham and they moved to Ochlocknee in 1991, where Jack built their dream place. Jack and Louise joined Dawson Street Baptist Church where he became an active member of the Adult II Men's Class, in which, he loved. He traveled with other members doing missionary work where his talent at construction aided many. He enjoyed nothing better than having his family
and grandchildren around. Other survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Donna S. and Randal Howard of Ochlocknee; grandsons, Dalton Davis Howard and Douglas James Howard both of Ochlocknee; adopted granddaughters, Ashley Schuman Washington and Chelsie Schuman Willoughby both of Meigs; brother-in-law, Joe Edwards of Milledgeville; sister-in-laws, Deannia Williams Jessie and Joyce Black of Conyers; nieces and nephews, Susan Steward and husband, Randy of Milledgeville, Nathan Edwards of Texas, Ben and Shelley Seay of Waynesboro, Darrien and Debbie George, Verdre and Mollie Williams of Conyers, Chad Black of Atlanta, and Tracy Williams of Athens; many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Garry Lee Shepard and sister, Nell Edwards. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association of GA., Inc., 1955 Cliff Valley Way, Suite 116, Atlanta, GA., 30329.
