Services for James Billy Benton, Sr., 60, of Ochlocknee, are at 2 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2008, at Thomasville Church of Christ. The Minister Garland Basford will officiate and interment is in Little Ochlocknee Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are Willie Hill, Pete Turner, Gerard Turner, Harry Bryant, Lyn Suber and Gary Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Paul Cooper, Jessie Stephens, Charlie Smith and Wayne Dodson. Mr. Benton died April 8 at Grady General Hospital. Born February 10, 1948, in Thomas County, he was the son of the late Henry Joshua and Bytha Louise Simpson Benton. On May 26, 1970, in Grady County, he married Barbara Weldon Benton, who survives. He was a supervisor at Siemens Corp. He was also a hay farmer and raised cows. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and David Poole of Ochlocknee and Bridget Benton and Ken Ragsdale of Atlanta; son and daughter-in-law, James Billy, Jr. and Athalena Benton of Cairo; grandchildren, Garrett Michael Poole, William Connor Poole, Emma Kate Poole and Kenley Lauren Ragsdale; sisters, Sadie Golden, Polly Condon, both of Albany; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia and Jr. Wilson, Betty and Gene Rhoden, all of Ochlocknee and Janice and Brad Becknell of Ocoee, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Betty Benton of Ochlocknee; Special friends, Mike and Katie Gissendanner of Atlanta and Richard Ames of Ochlocknee; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sue Weldon of Harvest, Ala., Carolyn Gay, Linda and Bobby Willis, Randall and Vickie Carlton all of Moultrie, Jerry and Ann Weldon of Burlington, North Carolina and Bobby and Sherry Weldon of Moultrie.
