Services for James Clyde Kindred, Sr., 79, of Metcalfe, are at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Marshall Singletary and Rev. Tegler Greer will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jesse Kindred, Reuben Kindred, Matthew Ritter, Wentie Kindred, Jr., Billy Pyle, John Dekle, Dennis Roddenberry, Keith Roddenberry, Geoffrey Lawrence, Richard Lawrence and John Bryan. Mr. Kindred passed away February 16, 2011 at his residence. Born April 10, 1931 in Metcalfe, he was the son of the late James Andrew Kindred and Hazel Runion Kindred. On July 31, 1955 in Metcalfe, he married Burnadeen Lawrence Kindred, who survives. Mr. Kindred served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Korea, he had a transport refrigeration business for 40 years and was a lifelong member of Metcalfe United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent, lay speaker and was a former chairman of the administrative council. Other survivors include daughter, Donna Denise Kindred of Metcalfe, son, Rev. C. Lance Kindred and wife Jodi of Valdosta; grandchildren, Jesse Clyde Kindred, Reuben Henley Kindred, Allyson Courtney Ritter, Matthew William Ritter, Haley Kendra Bryan, Kirby Danielle Kindred and Chloe Grace Kindred; daughter-in-law, Marie Kindred; brother, W.P. Wentie Kindred of Metcalfe; sisters, Frances Wentworth Kindred Dillard, Eva Anne Kindred Scoggins, Nellie Ruth Kindred Miller all of Thomasville and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, James Clyde Kindred, Jr., sisters, Minnie Minor, Ruby Costello, Adele K. Miller and Mary Norman.
