James E. Short

Funeral services for James E. Short, Sr., 69 of Thomasville and Shalimar, Fl will be Wednesday, February 16 at 11:00 AM at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Short died Monday, February 14, 2005. The son of Edgar G. and Era Simmons Short, he was born on November 27, 1935 in Jefferson County, Alabama. On October 1, 1955 in Graysville, Al. he married Virginia N. Wood Short, who survives. Mr. Short was a well-respected auto dealer for over 40 years. He began his automotive career in 1961 and owned and operated Jim Short Ford in Birmingham, Al. from the early 1970?s until the late 1970?s. Mr. Short then relocated to the Florida area, where he became General Manager of Gary Smith Honda in Ft. Walton Beach. He later became Dealer/Partner of Albany Honda in Albany, GA and subsequently moved on to become Dealer/Partner of Thomasville Honda until his death. Mr. Short will long be remembered by friends, family and business associates for his sincere and deep-rooted loyalty, and his willingness to give everyone a chance. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law James Jimmy & Kathy Short of Baton Rouge, LA., a daughter, Karen Isbell of Mobile, AL; 2 grandchildren, Lauren and Austin Isbell and a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Darol Lindloff of Dallas Texas.
