James L. Hamner

.James Lenton Hamner, Sr., 84 of Pavo, passed away into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on October 2, 2017, from his temporary residence here on earth. Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 7 at Antioch Baptist Church, where he was a member. Reverend Tim VanLandingham will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Hamner was born August 28, 1933 in Quitman, Georgia to the late Charlie Turner Hamner and Myrtle Edwards Hamner. He was married to Katheren Louise Brown Hamner, who survives. He was a veteran of the Korean War, in the United States Army and the United States Navy, retiring after a total 30 years of service. He is also survived by children, Wanda Correll and husband Arnold of Lenoir, NC, Kathy Brickey and husband Kenny of Roanoke, VA, James Hamner, Jr and wife Pamela of Cincinnati, OH and Nancy Sliker and husband Conrad of Pavo; grandchildren, Adam Correll & Wendy Vines, Jennifer Martin, and Andrew Hamner; great-grandchildren, Rose Martin and Marcus Martin; brothers, Charles Hamner wife Joann of Sparks, Ga, Paul Hamner and wife Vera of Jacksonville, Fl and Lanis Hamner and wife Linda: sisters, Elizabeth Strickland of Jacksonville, Fl and Vinnie Baldree of Sparks and brother-in-law, Robert Rowan of Adel. He was preceded in death by sister, Barbara Rowan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, C/O Vickie Lutes PO Box 1999, Thomasville, Ga 31799.
