Graveside services for James Huel Bass, 86, of Tallahassee, Fla., are at 2 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2009 at Meigs Sunset Cemetery. The Rev. Douglas Bass will officiate. Mr. Bass died Feb. 11 in Tallahassee. Born April 15, 1922, in Grady County, he was the son of the late James Otis and Olga Pawnee Fulford Bass. On Sept. 5, 1942, in Thomasville, he married Frances Davis Bass, who survives. He was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church, a veteran of the United States Army and was involved with the D Day Invasion. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Nancy Bass of Tallahassee; granddaughter and husband, Heather and Clay White of Tallahassee; brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Faye Bass of Thomasville and Fred and Ruby Bass of Meigs. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Iris Ann Shaffer. Memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL., 32308-5428.
