James W. Palmer, Jr

Funeral services for Dr. James W. Palmer Jr., 76 of Thomasville, will be 11:00AM on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Laurel Hill and Rev. Tom Jacobs will officiate. Dr. Palmer passed away on July 14, 2015 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born December 9, 1938 in Jackson, Alabama, he was the son of the late James Wiley Palmer Sr. and Inez Eidson Palmer. Dr. Palmer, who was a former veterinarian in Atlanta for 38 years, was a member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville, American Veterinarian Medical Association, and Georgia Veterinarian Medical Association. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club, where he was Kiwanian of the year in 2012. Dr. Palmer was a veteran of the United States Army. He was married to Julia Ann Palmer, who survives. Other survivors include sons, James W. Palmer, III of Brooklyn, New York and William Scott and Nadia Palmer of Thomasville, Georgia, sister, Judy Birdsong of Camilla, Georgia; niece, Joy and Ben Baker of Tampa, Florida; nephews, John Birdsong of Baconton and Jud and Lynn Birdsong of Pelham. Honorary pallbearers will be the Kiwanis Club of Thomasville. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00AM until 11:00AM in the Chapel of Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
