Services for James R. Day, 76, of Thomasville are 1:00 pm, Sunday, July 11, 2010 at St Thomas Episcopal Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Judy Jones and Rev. Jeffery Shannon Eads will officiate and interment will follow at 5:00 pm at Pinecrest memorial Gardens, in Marianna, Fl. Pallbearers are Christopher Day Danny Day, Rhand Day, McInley Day, Jesse Howard and George Hicks. Mr. Day passed away July 9, 2010 at Archbold Hospital. Born August 17, 1933 in Greenville, Fl, he was the son of the late Jesse Pendleton Day and Mildred Scarboro Johnson. He was married to Joan Strickland Day who survives. Mr. Day graduated from Florida State University, was a veteran of the US Army with the 82nd Air Born and owned Days Transmission and Body Shop in Thomasville for over 30 years. Mr. Day was an avid fisherman, loving father and friend to many. Other survivors include children, Douglas "Kelly" Day, James "Eric" Day, Alison Day Courtney, and daughter-in-law, Lorry Day, all of Thomasville; grandchildren, Anna Day Liddick, Christopher Thomas Day, James Daniel Day and Stephanie Erica Day; brother, Jesse Gilbert Day and wife Judy of Thomasville and sister, Beverly Rose of Bossier City, LA. In Lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center, 116 Mimosa Dr, Thomasville, Ga 31792.
