OBITUARY FOR JAMES RANDALL ELWELL APRIL 10, 2006
Elwell, James Randall, 63, born in Thomasville, Ga., Feb. 20, 1943, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2006, at his home in Boquete Chiriqui, Panama.
A Thomasville High School graduate, he received a degree from Georgia Tech where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity, and advanced degrees from Bradley University and Georgia State University with doctoral studies at Georgia Tech.
A Vietnam veteran, he served three tours of duty with the Navy Seabee Corp.
He was a longtime resident of Marietta, Ga., and retired from Lockheed Martin.
He is survived by his wife Dixie Stack Elwell formerly of Oxnard, CA.; sons, David Xavier Elwell, of Marietta, GA.; Jonathan and daughter-in-law Erin Jones Elwell, and granddaughter Jennifer Abigail of Martinez, GA.; sister-in-law Patricia Stack of Glenview, IL.; parents, Hubert Alton and Nadine Chastain Elwell, of Thomasville, Ga.; sister, Charlotte ?Cheri? Elwell Pless; brother-in-law, James Andrew Pless of Tampa, FL.; brother Henry Darrell Elwell of Alligator Point, FL.; nephews, Christopher Troy Elwell, Derek Todd and wife DeAnna Duncan Elwell, and their sons; Henry and Charlie Elwell all residence of Nashville, TN.
A memorial service in his honor will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Dawson St. Baptist Church, Thomasville, Ga., followed by interment at Little Ochlocknee Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charitable organization of choice in his memory.
The family will receive friends at the home of the parents in Thomasville.
