Services for James (Jim) William Sickler, 70 of Pavo, are at 3p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, 425 North Broad Street, Thomasville, Georgia. Mr. Sickler passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014. He was born on July 5, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He later moved and grew up in North Miami- before playing football at Wichita State University. Following graduation, he moved back to Miami where he began his career as a math teacher. Some years later he moved to Tallahassee, Florida and retired after 32 years of teaching. Mr. Sickler then chose to continue his teaching career in Thomasville, Georgia. He taught at Thomas County Crossroads Alternative School for one year before getting in on the ground floor at Bishop Hall Charter School where he was Department Chair of the Math Department. He retired last year after 15 years ....a total of 47 years as a math educator. Mr. Sickler has always been very passionate about education and his students, and was loved by many. He is survived by his four children, Lori Sickler Pyle (Clint), Debbie Sickler Landon (Chris), Justin Sickler, and Michael Sickler; his four grandchildren, Noah Pyle, Lauren Land on, Matthew Landon, and Andrew Landon; brother, Raymond Sickler; and his devoted companion, Marianne Hancock. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Community Hospice of North East Florida or River Garden Hebrew Home in Jacksonville, Fla.
