Services for James (Jim) H. Smith, 94 of Thomasville will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel with Jimmy Clanton officiating. Mr. Smith passed away December 16, 2021 at the Lake City VA Hospital. Born November 22, 1927 in Cuthbert, Ga., he was the son of the late Hardy F. & Bernice Patterson Smith. He was married to Pauline Cannon Smith who preceded him in death. He was Veteran of the United States Armed Services where he proudly served his country in war and peace, first in the Army and then in the Air Force. He loved working in his yard and his shop, where he made bird houses, clocks and tables then giving them away to people. He attended Boston Presbyterian Church and got much joy out of helping with the worship service while in the Lake City VA Hospital with Chaplin Richard Prentiss. He is survived by his children, Julie Coram of Thomasville, Jan Amiss and husband Tom of Albuquerque, NM and Jimbo Smith and wife Dixie of Thomasville; grandchildren, Shelly Dunlap (Neil), Lillie Christie (Michael), Shasta Gainey, Nash Amis (Sarah), Chris O'Neal(Aubrey), Jonathan Waller (Sara) and Jonah O'Neal; great-grandchildren, Amanda Dunlap, SGT Asia Schmitz (Colton), Reagan Gurle, Ella James Amis, Logan Rhett Amis, Emma O'Neal, Hannah O'Neal, Luke Waller, Issac Waller, Justin O'Neal; sister, Katherine Boyles and husband John of Sherman TX and brother, Robert Smith and wife Deidee of Metter, Ga; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Chip Coram; son-in-law, Chuck Coram; siblings, Hardy (Snooks) F. Smith, Jr and wife Lera, Allen (Moe) Smith and wife Loretta, Vivian Smith Hatcher and husband Jimmy and Paul Smith and wife Geneva. The family will receive friends 1-2pm, before the service at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Mr. Smiths extended family at the VA CLC in Lake City for their love, care and friendship over the years for their Daddy.
