James William Stone, Jr.

Services for James William Stone, Jr of Thomasville are at 3:00PM on Monday, May 10, 2010 at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Milton Gardner, Rev. Tom Jacobs and Rev. Hal Combs will officiate and interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are Grandsons, Richard Stone, Michael Stone, Todd Michael Stone, Steven Stone, Alan Stone and Andrew Stone. Mr. Stone died May 8, 2010 at his residence. Born October 9, 1929 he was the son of the late James William and Nell Rooks Stone. On December 16, 1951 in Douglas, GA he married Jean Worth Stone who survives. Mr. Stone was a member of First Baptist Church and a graduate of the University of Georgia. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Mr. Stone retired from Flowers Industries after 38 years where he served in executive management in several key positions including Accountant, Purchasing Agent, Assistant to the President, Member of the Board of Directors, and Vice President of Purchasing. Other survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Margaret Stone of Thomasville, Rick and Dawn Stone of Lawrenceville, GA, Todd and Shirley Stone of Alabaster, AL, grandsons, Richard Stone, Alan and Morgan Stone, Andrew and JoAnn Stone, Michael J. Stone, Steven Stone, Todd Michael Stone, Jr, granddaughters, Kaitlyn Stone, Laura Stone, nephew, Al Stone and niece, Helen Neal Heavey. He was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Stone and Alvin Stone. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southwest Ga, 818 Gordon Ave., Thomasville, GA 31792 or Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center, 116 Mimosa Drive, Thomasville, GA 31792.
