Funeral services for James Kenneth Murphy, 68, of Merrillville will be held at 3pm, Friday, October 12, 2012 at Merrillville Baptist Church. Visitation will precede the services at 2 pm. Rev. Richard Albritton will officiate and interment will be at Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Derek Murphy, Jeffrey Murphy, Gary Murphy, Greg Murphy, Kenneth Murphy, David Murphy and Steve Lamb.
Mr. Murphy passed away on October 8, 2012 in Marietta, Georgia. Born March 17, 1944 in Thomas County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Albert and Irma White Murphy. He was employed at Seimens Corporation in Thomasville, Georgia for 47 years. During life his special past times were fishing, church involvement and time with family.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife, Jackie Johnson Murphy and daughters, Lisa and George Pruner of Ellijay, Georgia and Ginger and Joey Grier of Thomasville, Georgia and grandchildren Cole and Cameron Grier of Valdosta. Also surviving are brothers George and Brunelle Murphy of Avon Park, Florida; Jerry and Karolyn Murphy of Thomasville, Georgia and brother in law, Doug Hicks of Merrillville, Georgia He was preceded in death by his sister, Glenda Murphy Hicks. Further survivors include many nieces and nephews along with special pet friends Killer and Rocky.
