James V. Singletary Sr.

Services for James V. "BoBo" Singletary Sr., 82, of Thomasville will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at All Saints' Episcopal Church, where he was a founding member. The Rev. Frederick Buechner and Rev. Will McQueen will officiate. Mr. Singletary died June 28, 2009 at his residence. Born July 25, 1926 in Thomasville, he was the son of the late Alton Cornelius Singletary and Mary Lorena Bowen Singletary. On September 14, 1949 in Thomasville he married Martha "Peggy" Wheeler Singletary, who precedes him in death. Mr. Singletary was a 1944 graduate of Thomasville High School, a veteran of the Navy where he served in WWII, retired from CSX Railroad as yardmaster in 1988 and was co-founder of Singletary's Flowers & Gifts, Inc. Survivors include son James V. Singletary Jr., of Thomasville, son, Alan Ramsey Singletary of Thomasville, daughter & son-in-law, Lori Ann "Buffy" & Travis Singletary of Crestview, Fl, sister, Doris Singletary Drew of Thomasville, sister-in-law, Peggy Fore Singletary of Thomasville, granddaughters, Hannah Elisabeth Singletary of Crestview Fl, Savannah Ramsey Singletary of Thomasville and grandson, Travis Spencer Singletary III of Crestview, Fl. He was preceded in death by brothers, Alton C. Singletary, Dr. Robert Barton Singletary II., sister, Dorothy Singletary, sister-in-law, Doris Keener Singletary and brother-in-law, Billy Drew.
