Jan Dickey-Chiofolo, 87, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, 364 days after the passing of her beloved husband of 30 years. She was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother to her immediate and extended family.
Jan was a teacher and educator for more than 30 years. Most of which was with the Montgomery County School System in Montgomery, Alabama. She received her bachelor's degree from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL and her Master of Science in Education from Troy State University.
Jan was a member of Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida. She loved to read and write and was an avid animal lover.
Jan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph M. Chiofolo, father, Russell E. Dickey, mother, Juana Dickey, who passed away when Jan was 3 years old, and her second mother, Juanita F. Dickey.
Jan has an extensive blended family and is survived by her children, Jason Goolsby (Candice) and Robin Tillery (née Goolsby, Stan); Christine Ehmann (née Chiofolo, Chris), Mark Chiofolo (Amber), and John Chiofolo (Marcy); grandchildren, Alex Goolsby (Amanda), Daniel Goolsby, Kaleb Tillery, Emalee Tillery, Connor Goolsby, Allie Goolsby, and Aubree Goolsby; Elizabeth Maline (née Hunter, Tyler), Miranda Hunter, Patrick Ehmann, Parker "Dash" Chiofolo, Maximos Chiofolo, Iris Chiofolo, and Cora Chiofolo; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Wesley, Lila, and Nora Maline.
Funeral services will be held at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM (visitation at 9:15), with Father Izbicki officiating. Interment will be Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Thomasville, Georgia, Laurel Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in Jan's memory may be made to the foundation of Community Hospice and Palliative Care, Jacksonville, FL.
