Services for Jane Martin Groover of Thomasville, will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bob Dixon and Pastors Larry and Ann Nunnally will officiate. Interment will be in Dixie Cemetery.
Mrs. Groover died August 27th at Camellia Gardens Nursing Home in Thomasville, GA after a lengthy illness. She was born October 16, 1917 in Atlanta, GA and was the daughter of the late J. Burt Martin and Mame C. Martin. Mrs. Groover moved to Orlando, FL as a young girl and graduated from Orlando High School, later graduating from Wesleyan College in the class of 1935. She worked as clerk in the federal court system before marrying Sol M. Groover in 1944 who preceded her in death. She became a homemaker and mother of four children. While living in Orlando she and her family were active members of Park Lake Presbyterian Church where she taught sunday school. She moved to Decatur, GA with her family in 1963 and lived there until moving to Thomasville, GA in 1974 where she spent the rest of her life. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Thomasvile, GA and the Sue McTire Sunday school class as well as ladies church circle. She was also an active member of Thomasville Garden Club as well as other volunteer activities in the community.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law Tommy and Kathy Groover, Rob and Tracey Groover; daughter Mary G. Hower all of Thomasville; grandchildren Jonmark Groover, Katy Groover Bohman, Jonathan Groover, David Groover, Beth Ann Groover, Shane Michael Hower, Matthew David Hower. She was preceded in death by a daughter Nancy Jane Groover Thomas and brother Robert C. Martin. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 on Tuesday morning. Donations may be made to the Youth Departments at either First United Methodist Church or Victory Fellowship Church. Guest may sign the online register book at www.allenfh.com .
