Graveside memorial services for Jean Coursey Nearing, 85, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Laurel Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Stephen A. Murray will officiate. Mrs. Nearing died February 8, 2008, peacefully, after a long illness. She was born July 11, 1922 in Evansville, Indiana. She was married to the Rev. Dr. Wilson Nearing, who preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Phillip Douglas Nearing of Chicago, Ill. She was the cherished mother of a son, Paul Gregory Nearing, who preceded her in death. A reception will follow the service at First Presbyterian Church.
