Services for Jean Singletary Smith, 84, of Coolidge are 2 pm, Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. James Davis and Rev. Robert Slane will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Dustin Fudge, Brayton Smith, Lee Jones, Brett Jones, Curtis Singletary and Roddy Singletary. Mrs. Smith passed away October 18, 2011 in Moultrie. Born March 31, 1927 in Pelham, she was the daughter of the late Shelton R Singletary and Mary Tucker Singletary. She was a graduate of Ochlocknee High School. In 1956, she married the late William Dewitt Smith of Coolidge. Mrs. Smith was an employee of the Thomas County School System as a bus driver for 35 years until her retirement. She was treasure of the Coolidge Methodist Church and had a strong faith and great love for her church. She also loved her late husband of 53 years and cared deeply for her family and grandchildren. She was well known around her community as an excellent cook and always had an extra place at the table for anyone. Survivors include children, Cates Byrd and husband Hugh of Kennesaw, Shelton Smith and wife Jeanie of Pavo, Howard Smith & Cathy Palmer of Coolidge, and Dickie Smith & Wil Baldwin of Tifton; grandchildren, Meredith Fudge, Dustin & Jenny Fudge, Brayton Smith, Shelley Smith, Lee & Jessica Jones and Brett & Billye Jones; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Jones, Taylor Jones, Macy Jones and Lael Fudge; sister, Mary Francis Fowler of Atlanta, brother, Shelton "Shell" Singletary and wife Rhetta of Ochlocknee and sister-in-law, Suzanne Singletary of Cairo. She was preceded in death by brothers Donald Singletary and Bobby Singletary. Memorial contributions may be made to Pavo Methodist Church, P.O. Box 97, Pavo, Ga 31778.
