Jeane (Betty) Mcbride Jinright

September 13, 1931 — May 25, 2019

Services for Jeane (Betty) McBride Jinright, 87, of Thomasville are at 2:00PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church where she was a member. Mrs. Jinright passed away May 25, 2019 at her home in Thomasville, Georgia. Betty was the daughter of Julian Davis McBride and Martha Swift McBride Carmean, born on Sept. 13, 1931. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and avid gardener.
Betty married the late Robert Russell Jinright in December of 1951. She was devoted to her family and her love of gardening that she learned as a child from her dear grandfather, George Swift. She was a floral designer beyond compare and shared her talents with many.
Betty joined Briarcliff Garden Club and blossomed. After becoming their President she went on to be President of Thomasville Garden Club, President of the State Garden Club of Georgia, accredited flower show judge, chairman of our Rose Show for many years and Master Gardener. She planted seeds of floral passions in her children, grandchildren and great grands.
Betty’s love for flowers was most evident in the presence of wildflowers. Whether in the mountains, at the beach, on any roadside, anywhere, she could spot (and identify) the tiniest and most beautiful of God’s creations. She was a member and served on the board of Bird Song Nature Center proudly. Betty was awarded “Woman of the Year” by the Thomasville-Thomas Co. Chamber of Commerce in 1978. Her yard was filled with wildflowers and native plants. In March of 2014 she received the Native Landscape award for the South Georgia Native Plant and Wildflower Symposium.
Betty shared of herself in many ways. When her girls were young she was their Scout Troup Leader. She knitted personalized Christmas stockings for each member of her family as well as many other families. Her baked cinnamon rolls and fruit cakes were Christmastime favorites.
Betty is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Richard Altork, Leiann and David Orr; Grandchildren Leila and John Adams, Rachel Altork, Martha and Luke Krenzin, Robert and Julia Altork, Daniel Altork, Russell and Kimberly Orr, Hannah Orr, Parker Orr; Great grandchildren Ruby, Eli, Esther, Eden, Peregrine, Phoenix, Jack, Luke, Cecelia, Kingston, Forrest, Wyatt, Clark and Kinley; Loving caretaker Lannie Stinson; Sisters Virginia Dula and Inky Bush and brother Bird and Debbie McBride and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Robert Russell “Russ” Jinright, Jr.
After the service there will be a reception in the fellowship hall.
