Services for Jeffrey Pope Mathews, 59, of Pavo, are at 11:00AM on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Pavo Baptist Church. The Rev. Larry Harris will officiate and interment will be in Barwick Rosewood Cemetery. Mr. Mathews passed away on July 10, 2015 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born July 21, 1955 in Pavo, GA, he was the son of the late G.C. (Jeff) and Estrella Pope Mathews. On July 31, 1981 he married Lydia Baker Mathews who survives. He was a 1973 graduate of Central High School. Mr. Mathews was a farm manager for Varnedoe Properties where he worked for over 30 years. He was a member of Pavo Baptist Church where on December 27, 1992 he was ordained as a Deacon and had also previously been a youth leader, Choir member and in the Men’s Club. He was a former member of Young Farmers where he had served as President and a former coach for TBall and Girls softball. Other survivors include, daughter, Melissa Nicole Mathews, son and daughter-in-law, Brent Adam Baker Mathews ( Brittany) all of Pavo, step-son, Toby Alan Slusher of Aiken, SC, sisters, Sandra Parrish and Jan Driggers both of Pavo, brother-in-law, Robert (Bobby) Baker of Boston, GA, granddaughter, Aubrey Madison Mathews, step-grandsons, Cody Slusher of Omega, GA and Colson Slusher of Summerville, SC, nephews, Bret Parrish (Candy), Brook Parrish (Beth), Shawn Baker, Joe Baker, John Paul Baker, Christopher Prophater, (Leah), Jamie Finch, (Ashley), nieces, Stephanie Baker and Jessica Lewis, great nephews, Cody Parrish, Chase Parrish, Tracer Parrish, Whitter Finch, Lewis Prophater, Oliver Livingston, great nieces, Hailey Parrish, Amelia Finch and Adaline Finch and Layla Bentley and many cousins. The family will receive friends from 4-6PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
