Jerry A. Butler, 79 of Thomasville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on May 28, 2026. Jerry was born on November 18, 1946, in Albany, GA, to the late Buford B. Butler and Mary Jewel Butler.
Jerry was an industrious man, he did not have idle hands, and of all the things he set out to do, the greatest of these was Husband, Father, Franfra (Grandpa), Peepaw, and Pastor. As he crossed the threshold from temporal to eternal, no doubt he was welcomed with "Well done, my good and faithful servant: you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter into the joy of thy Lord." The legacy he leaves is a standard of love, servanthood, and integrity, and the world was a better place with him in it.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Martha Butler of Thomasville; children Angie Miller of Thomasville, Mandy Reneau (Wes) of Thomasville, and Brittany Welch (Brandon) of Thomasville; grandchildren Dillon, Drew, Delanie, Lily Anna, and Jake; nieces and nephew Pam McClinton, Joy Stavely, and Michael Prevatte.
Jerry is preceded in death by his brother, Bob Butler, and his surviving children.
The family will have a private graveside service at Fredonia Cemetery.
