Services for Jesse Willard Luke, 93 of Gulf Shores, Ala will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Mack Luke will officiate and interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Luke passed away peacefully on May 26, 2013 at Robertsdale Health Center in Robertsdale, Ala. On September 23, 1941 he married Dixie McDonald Luke who preceded him in death on February 7, 1998. Born October 27, 1919 in Meigs, was the son of the late Daniel Elder Luke and Mary Annie Stanaland Luke. Mr. Luke lived most of his life in Thomasville but most recently he lived on the beach in Gulf Shores, Ala. He retired from Sunnyland Packing Company after 42 years of service and after his retirement worked at Superior Motors in Thomasville; he was a 50 year Mason, a worthy grand patron of the Eastern Star and was recently recognized for the 50 year milestone by his Thomasville lodge and he was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Thomasville. He was a very quiet, caring, gentle, loving man who was well respected by all who knew him. He was a devoted husband and loving father who's strong work ethic was passed down to his children. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially the owners and staff of Hazel's Diner in Gulf Shores, where he spent many mornings enjoying his favorite breakfast at the buffet. He is survived by his children, Marcus Luke and wife Margaret of Matthews, NC, Reba Johnson of Gulf Shores, Ala, Marilyn Jacobson and husband Ken of Comer and Anita Shonkwiler and husband Bill of Marietta; 4 sisters; 3 brothers and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Robertsdale Health Care Center, 18700 US Hwy 90, Robertsdale, Al 36567. The family will receive friends on at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
