Funeral services for Joan F. Finger, 81, of Thomasville, Georgia will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 1, 2018 at First Baptist Church Chapel. Rev. Marty Carnes will officiate and interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Joan died peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 28. Joan was born on September 5, 1937, in Washington, D.C., to Clarke and Gertrude Foreman. She grew up in Washington, D.C. where she attended Coolidge High School and American University, graduating in 1960 with a B.A. in Fine Arts. Joan worked as a homemaker and a secretary for an environmental company for over twenty years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville and enjoyed her membership in the Adult Choir where she served as secretary. She faithfully volunteered for many church activities such as Back Pack Buddies and VBS. Joan was also a member of the Killarney Queen Garden Club where she served as the corresponding secretary. Her favorite pastime was genealogy however, she also enjoyed travel, gardening and cooking. Joan is survived by her two sons, Douglas Finger of Towson, MD, Raymond Finger, and wife Suzanne of Thomasville, GA as well as her grandchildren, Clarke and Claire Finger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brian K. Finger. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Southwest Georgia Hospice and the caregivers of Westcare of Thomasville. Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund (210 N. Broad St., Thomasville, Ga.) or Southwest Georgia Hospice (114 Mimosa Dr, Thomasville Ga, 31792). Visitation will be held 10-11 am, before the service at the church.
