It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joann Cox, who departed this life on August 21, 2026, in Cairo, Georgia. Born on March 15, 1956, in Adel, Georgia, Joann was a devoted homemaker who poured her heart into caring for her family and community. She took great joy in gardening and sewing, and she had a gift for helping anyone in need. Joann was a devoted member of the First Assembly of God in Cairo, serving as the secretary of the church and contributing her time and talents to support her congregation.
Joann's greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely. She is survived by her son, Dennis Beckwith (Mariam Mirabzadeh) of Thomasville, and her daughter, Christy French (Reggie) of Warner Robins. She leaves behind her beloved dog, Chloe, and a legacy of love in her grandchildren: Scott Lewis, Brodie Tinsley, Reese Tinsley, Vivian Mirabzadeh Beckwith, Shepherd Mirabzadeh Beckwith, and Cole French. Joann is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as her brothers Linton Cox (Teresa) of Moultrie, and David Wolfe of Quitman. She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Foster Cox and Linda Cox, and her son, Jimmy Lewis.
Services celebrating Joann's life will be announced at a later date. Joann will forever be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and community.
