Memorial service for Joel C. Fleetwood, Jr., 86, of Thomasville, will be 11:00AM, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at First Newark Baptist Church, where he was a member. Rev. Dr. Don Prevatt will officiate. Mr. Fleetwood passed away on August 8, 2018 at his residence. Born June 26, 1932 in Colquitt County, he was the son of Joel C. Fleetwood, Sr. and Sofronia Mae Nelms Fleetwood. He was married to Louise Fleetwood for 60 years, who preceded him in death in 2017. Mr. Fleetwood was in the National Guard and later transferred to the Air Corps. He worked at Joan Art Mills and with Meals on Wheels. Mr. Fleetwood was a longtime member of Westside Baptist Church and later became a member of First Newark Baptist Church. Survivors include, sons, Jack and Shirley Strickland of Ochlocknee, Rick and Rose Strickland of Thomasville, and Dominick Strickland of Ochlocknee; daughter, Kathy and Neil Miller of Pelham; daughter- in-law, Donna Ross; grandchildren, James Strickland, Scott Strickland and wife Heather, Kaneil Daniel, Nelson Miller, Vicki O’Bright, Brenda Hughes and husband Grant, Chris Daniel and wife Nagi, and Tony Strickland and wife Lauren; sister, Gwen Abraham of Lake Butler, Florida; brother-in-law, Gene Butler; great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Strickland, sisters, Monteen Holland, Doris F. Fielding, and Merle Heald.
