John Alexander Willis, Jr

Funeral services for John Alexander Willis, Jr., 69, of Thomasville are 3:00 pm, Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Rev. David Lamb will officiate. Pallbearers are Jimmy Jordan, Mack Willis, Freddy Fulgham, Danny Riggs, Sammy Riggs, Billy Howell, Jr., and T.E. Welch, honorary are Thomas Gilbert, Jonathon Gilbert and Christina Stroud. Mr. Willis died January 20, 2008 at his residence. Born January 25, 1938, in Spence, Ga, he was the son of the late Johnnie & Gladys Roland Willis. On March 12, 1960 he married Dorothy Patricia Riggs Willis who survives. He was a veteran with the U.S. Marine Corp, was retired from Coats & Clarks, the Thomasville Board of Education where he drove a bus for 23 years and the Thomas County Public Works. He enjoyed doing lawn work, working in his barn, helping others, his cats, spending time with his children, grandchildren and most of all, his wife. Other survivors are daughter Dawna Kay Gilbert of Metcalf, son Ricky Willis of Morgan, Ga, grandchildren, Jonathon Gilbert of Tifton, Thomas Gilbert of Thomasville, Christina Stroud of Cairo, 2 great grandchildren, brothers, Mack Willis of Metcalf and Jimmy Willis of Jackson, Ga, brother & sister-in-law, Bobby & Barbara Willis of Ochlocknee, sisters, Christine Shaw & Frances Royal, both of Keystone Heights, Fl. Brothers, Mack Arthur Willis Sr. and Franklin Eugene Willis preceded him in death. Family will receive friends 6-8 today at the funeral home.
