John Ellis Dollar

John Ellis Dollar, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2023, at the age of 81. He was born on November 6, 1941, in MetCalfe, GA, to the late parents Jessie and Mae T. Dollar.
After completing his education, John proudly served in the military for eight years, with tours in Korea and Vietnam. He was a dedicated soldier and showed great honor and bravery in his service to his country.
In civilian life, John worked as a farm hand for Horne Farm, where he found joy in working the land and witnessing the fruits of his labor. He also had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. In his leisure time, John found solace in fishing, which allowed him to connect with nature and find peace.
He is survived by his loving brothers Stanley Dollar (Beverly) of Thomasville and Dr. James Dollar of Newport News, VA, and sister Barbara Hurst of Thomasville, and sister-in-law Melba Dollar. John will also be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jesse Warner Dollar and Joseph P. Dollar.
A graveside service will be held to honor John's life on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 2pm at Roselawn Cemetery in Barwick, GA. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 5-7pm at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
