Services for John Marcus Eldridge, Jr., 89 of Boston will be held Thursday, December 19, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Boston Presbyterian Church with Rev. Don West officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman. John passed away on December 14, 2019 at his residence. He was born on September 1, 1930, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late John Eldridge Sr. and the late Louise Wynne Eldridge. Mr. Eldridge was retired from the United States Army as 1st Sargent where he served in the Korean War. He was an avid motorcyclist and made many trips to Sturgis and was a member of a group called The Retread Motorcycle Group. He was a 50-year Mason and Shriner and was a member of the Boston Presbyterian Church, where he previously served on the Session. He was called “Pop” by his family, he was a friend to many and enjoyed helping others. Survivors include his children, John Marcus Eldridge, III (Ann) of Broadway, NC, Anthony Eldridge (Carol), of Arlington, TX.; grandchildren, John Marcus Eldridge, IV (Cindy) of Eagle Springs, NC, Matthew M. Eldridge (Dana) of Sanford, NC, Chris Eldridge (Barbara) of Anniston, AL, Tony Eldridge (Lynn) of Munford, AL, Jon Devon Eldridge of Granada Hills, CA, Kimberly Eldridge, Michael Eldridge (Sydney), Brandon Eldridge all of Arlington, TX; step-grandson, Stephen Cockman of Wilmington, NC; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandson and 2 great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Eldridge Davis. The family will receive friends 5-7pm, Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
