Memorial services for John Gibson Covington, 62, of Thomasville are 12 pm, Saturday, July 26, 2008 at J & P Quarter Horse Farm, 6153 Ga hwy 202, Thomasville, Ga. Mr. Covington died June 29, 2008 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fl. Born July 19, 1945 in Thomasville; he was the son of the late Harry & Zylphia Bowman Covington. He graduated from Thomasville High School and attended the University of Georgia. He worked as a civil engineer for a small company in Tallahassee. John had a lifelong love for the american quarter horse and owned J&P Quarter Horse Farm with his wife in Thomas Co. survivors include his wife of 20 years, Patti CG Covington of Thomasville, mother-in-law, Pricilla P. Cargile, who he loved like his own mother, children, Annette & Harry Hocks of Cocoa, Fl, Sheri Benson of Cocoa, Fl, Heather M. & Timothy Hutchinson of Boston, Ga, grandchildren, Preston Parrish, Jonathan Parrish, Rebecca Benson, Justin Benson, Brooke Hutchinson, Hailie Hutchinson, Samantha Lynn Hutchinson, great-grandchildren, Draven Parrish and Jacob Benson. Friends who rode with John are welcome to bring their horse and have a last ride with him in memory to say goodbye.
