Graveside services for John Hays Defnall, 95, of Thomasville will be at 10:00am Saturday, December 20, 2008 on Tennessee Street in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Dr. Jimmy Clanton will officiate. Mr. Defnall died Thursday at his residence. Born May 24, 1913 in Dale County, AL he was the son of the late Henry Ward Beecher Defnall and Annie Brannon Defnall. On October 6, 1942 in Ozark, Al he married Wilma Blackmon Defnall who after 60 years preceded him in death. He worked for 33 years for Scott Construction Company and in 1977 he and his son Stanley started Defnall Construction Company. Mr. Defnall was a member of the Elks Club and Moose Club. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Buddy Meeks of Thomasville, a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Rod Cantey of Atlanta and a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Carla Defnall of Thomasville and a brother, Ralph Defnall of Littleton, CO. Survivors also include grandchildren Kym McCrary, Angie Barnes, Tyler Meeks, Roderick Cantey, Lanier Pearson and Ansley Defnall, Carlyn Defnall and great grandchildren Dylan Arrington, Grayson McCrary, Corbin McCrary and Adeline Pearson; care-givers, Glenda Glenn, Resea Ray, Nancy Williams, Theresa Leeks and Sandra Nichols.
