John Lawton Lodge, Sr.

Graveside services for John Lawton Lodge, 88, from Thomasville will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Laurel Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Milford Stanley will officiate. Mr. Lodge passed away on October 30 at his residence. Born March 02, 1925 in Cairo, he was the son of the late William and Ruby Lodge. Mr. Lodge was married to Virginia Odell Merritt Lodge, who preceded him in death. He was a World War II Army Veteran and served from 1941 to 1945 in Africa. He also participated in the invasion of Italy, Sicily, and Switzerland. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne Lodge Moore and Stephen of Snellville, GA, son and daughter-in-law, John L. Lodge, Jr. and Kay of Thomasville, grandchildren, Brooke Eberhart, C. J. Eberhart, Ashley Fulghum, Adam Fulghum, Amanda Fulghum and Andrew Fulghum, nine great grandchildren; brother Dewight Lodge; sisters Juanita Perkins, Pat Garrett, and Oida Huber. He was preceded in death by brothers Lavoughn Lodge, Dewitt Lodge, Lonnie C. Lodge and Maynard Lodge and sisters Betty Gammons, Jeanette "Dollie" Abrigo, and Lacy Mayon. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM – 7:00PM on Friday, November 1, 2013. In lieu of flower donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Inc., P.O. Box 1201, Albany, Ga. 31702.
