Services for J.M. Overstreet, Jr., 77, of Meigs, are at 2 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2007, at Allen and Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. David Holton and Pastor Mack Luke will officiate. Interment is in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Colquitt County. Mr. Overstreet died March 13 at his home. Born October 15, 1929, in Tifton, he was the son of the late John Mitchell and Lillie Pearl Britt Overstreet, Sr. Survivors include sister, Beatrice O. Cook of Dixie; nephews and nieces-in-law, Mike and Robin Tanner of Meigs, Ronnie and Anna Tanner of Thomasville, Benjamin and Barbara Turner, Jr. of Ochlocknee, Albert and Beverly Cook of Rome, Jim and Freda Cook of Fayetteville and Terry and Faye Cook of Dixie; nephews Robert Tanner of Thomasville, and Bob Overstreet and Steve Overstreet both of California; niece, Sandra McDonald of Cairo; nieces and nephews-in-law, Lorene and Kenneth Bell of Thomasville, Carolyn and Carl White of Dixie and Betty and Chuck Powell of California; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Brothers, James F. Overstreet and Kenneth Overstreet; sister, Barbara Shirley Tanner; and nephew Chester Cook, preceded him in death.
