John N. Meeks

Services for John N. Meeks will be held on November 17, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Allen and Allen Celebration of Life Chapel. John was born on October 17, 1931, to the late Joseph E. and Imey Higginbotham Meeks in Banks County, Ga. John served his country in the Army, becoming a Sgt. 1st class in the 16th infantry, 1st division (Big Red One). He was a European Boxing Champion in 1951 and a European Rifle Champion in 1952. John was self-employed as an Orthotist with Williams Brace Company, spanning 40 years between locations in Tallahassee and Panama City, FL. John retired in March of 1993 in Panama City, FL. He enjoyed Sudoku, and other word puzzles. He was an avid golfer, and had 5 hole-in-ones from 1982-2009 on various golf courses in Panama City FL., Port St. Joe, FL., and Thomasville. He was also on a bowling league in Tallahassee and Panama City, FL., and carried an average of 206. John was baptized on August 17, 2014. He is survived by his wife Faye Meeks; children Michael Meeks (Kim) and LeAnne Meeks of Tallahassee; grandchildren Kendall Davis (Tyler) and Lindsey Meeks of Tallahassee, and Brittney Creamer (Nolan) of Chipley, FL; great-grandchildren Ward Zane Davis, and Hunter Creamer; and siblings Evelyn and Roy Meeks. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Ethel Sturgill and Nellie Power, and brothers Rayford, Burb, Joe, Matthew, Amos, and Edward Meeks. A visitation will be held one hour before the service from 1-2 PM in the Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel.
