John Larry Nesmith

Graveside services for John Larry NeSmith, of Thomasville, GA, will be held at 4:00 pm, Friday, February 8, 2019 at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. NeSmith passed away at Woodleaf on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at the age of 82. He was the son of the late J.B. and Vera Howell NeSmith. Surviving are his sisters: Edna June NeSmith, Thomasville, Ga; Ruth Clay (Henry), Coolidge, Ga.; Sharyn Sherman (David), Powdersville, SC. He had great affection for his nieces: Alanna Suber (Michael), Coolidge, GA; Michel Turner (Billy), Crawfordville, FL; and Hollie Vollmar (Tom), Powdersville, SC. He had several great nieces and nephews and was always interested in their lives. He is survived by several cousins with whom he had special relationships. Larry was in the National Guard, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and retired from Civil Service. He traveled to many countries during this time and later resided in Australia for a short period of time. He had a great sense of humor and became a prolific writer of short stories in his later years. He enjoyed his friendships at Woodleaf and was eager to help when and however he could, as long as he was able.
