John Dale Poindexter passed away on March 11, 2023, at the age of 69 in Metcalfe, Georgia. John was born November 4th, 1953, in Tallahassee, Fla. His parents
Reed and Mildred Poindexter proceeded him in death. He graduated from Florida High School and attended Tallahassee Community College where he studied carpentry. Throughout his life, he worked as a carpenter building houses, a plumber, and a corrections officer at Autry prison in Moultrie, Georgia. In later years, He worked on plantations in Thomas County.
John married Kay Cromartie on May 3rd 1986 in Metcalfe, Georgia. He loved living on the farm there, caring for the animals and the land. John enjoyed music and played the piano exceptionally well.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Kay Cromartie and stepchildren, Cody Reese and Suzanna Winton.
