John Mark Rountree, 60, was born on July 16, 1960, and died of injuries sustained in a single-car automobile accident on June 29, 2021. He was the son of Benjamin F. Rountree, Jr. and Catherine Little Rountree. He is survived by his mother, Catherine Rountree; his sisters Marsha Wood (Joel) of Cordele, Patty Adams of Pavo, Cathy Jackson (Chap) of Funston, Melanie Smith (Jim) of Jasper; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mark was of the Christian faith and knew Our Lord. He graduated from Moultrie High School and obtained an electrician certificate from Moultrie Area Technical School. He was an electrician by trade. He also had a CDL license and worked as a truckdriver. He was trained in cabinetry and carpentry and had jobs rewinding electric motors and maintaining equipment for National Cash Register. He was a jack of all trades. Mark was a tinkerer, always thinking outside the box. He developed many gadgets to make his and others' lives easier. Mark was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and adding to his impressive collection of arrowheads. He had a very keen sense of humor. He played the harmonica, accompanying his mother on piano. No one could better entertain with hambone routines. He enjoyed his family, friends, and his dogs- Dixie and Buddy. He rescued Buddy from a water-filled ditch in Brooks County on a very cold winter night. He had a big heart for animals. Family and friends are invited to visit his online tribute page at
